The first factory vehicle from Maranello to hit the shores of China was a 1992 Ferrari 348 TS. Two decades later, the company is celebrating its anniversary in China by designing and engineering twenty special-edition copies of 458 Italia inspired by the market. Besides the vehicle, it will also be opening its first permanent marque exhibition outside of Maranello at Italian Center of World Expo Park of Shanghai. The show will be held for 3 years and will cover around 10,000 square feet. The Show will be divided into five sections: Green Technology, Ferrari in China, Design, Racing and Product.
Another significant element for 20th anniversary celebration is the launch of Ferrari 458 Italia special edition of only 20 units dedicated exclusively to the market of China. Its livery is finished in a brand new color known as Marco Polo Red especially designed for this exclusive vehicle that will be showcased at the opening ceremony of Italian Center of Ferrari Exhibition at Shanghai Expo Park and is exemplified by distinctive Chinese elements. Ferrari claims that the inspiration comes from the longma theme of China, meaning the spirit and vigor of revolutionary dragon horse, which is a symbol of Chinese culture, standing for passion, success and courage.

The 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia is a very exclusive and high performing mid rear-engined, eight-cylinder car that has won more than 35 awards worldwide. It combines design and exclusivity with very ground-breaking technology and perfectly summarizes the vitality and passion of longma spirit. The design is completed with gold aero elastic winglets and gold finished rims. The cabin inside features an engine start button inscribed with simplified Chinese characters for start, a 20th Anniversary Special Edition plaque in the dash and gold embroidery on the headrests. The 2012 458 Italia is likely to be offered for the price of $225,000.
